Description

Formaline (HCHO), also called methanol is an organic compound. It has been used as a tissue preservative in operating rooms and Pathology laboratories.

It is a solution of about 4 % formaldehyde and water (Known as 10% NBF) and is ubiquitous.

It is used in the storage of biological samples’ mummifications as it hardens proteins and prevents them from decomposition.

Also, It is used as a disinfectant because it kills insects and many microorganisms.

It is a solution of formaldehyde in water, which preserves proteins and cellular organelles in a stepwise process.

It penetrates tissues quickly then binds to lysine, tyrosine, asparagine, tryptophan, histidine, arginine, cysteine, and glutamine in all of the proteins present in a specimen.
